Philanthropy

The ladies of the Mystical Order of the Phoenix want to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a network of book-exchange boxes called the Fire & Ice Libraries. We believe all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege.

Our first Free little Library was dedicated to Jiar Joseph Means, son of Phoenix sister Chan Means. This library can be found in front of Slim Goodies Diner on Magazine Street. We currently have plans to install 4 more Fire & Ice Libraries in the Greater New Orleans area this coming year. We are collecting new or slightly used books for all ages to help keep the libraries full. We are so proud to be a sponsor of the Leah Chase School. We collected school supplies for the children and we had the chance to walk through this beautiful new school. Our donations will allow over 300 children to have brand new materials that will help them feel confident to learn. This has opened up a brand new partnership with this beautiful school. 

Along with school supplies we filled their food pantry. The pantry supplies will be used to help hungry students have snacks and food. We also donated $4,000 dollars of brand new books to help fill their library. The school supply drive will be held at the Phoenix General Membership Meeting on August 16, 2025. The toiletry drive will be held on December 6, 2025 at our Rules of the Ride~Ugly Christmas Sweater Social. We will also send the teachers a wonderful meal during teacher appreciation week. Hail YOU!
